A vane pump is a positive displacement pump in which a series of sliding vanes are mounted in a slotted rotor. As the rotor turns inside an eccentric housing, each vane is pressed outward against the housing wall, creating sealed chambers that expand on the inlet side — drawing material in — and contract on the outlet side to discharge it. The result is a smooth, near-pulsation-free flow that stays stable even as material viscosity changes.
In rendering and food waste processing, this mechanism is precisely what makes the lamella vane pump effective on heavy, particle-laden materials: offal, fish paste, whole carcass pieces, and high-solid slurries that would cavitate or clog centrifugal alternatives. The dynamic vane seal compensates for wear automatically and maintains output consistency throughout the service life of the pump.
